Welcome Message
Welcome everyone to the official webpage of the Consulate General of Portugal in Guangzhou.
I assumed the charge of Consul General in Guangzhou on September 1st, 2021, a position that I will seek to carry out with responsibility, zeal, and professional commitment. It is also an honour and a privilege for me to be the first Portuguese female diplomat to assume a mission leadership in China.
The Consulate General of Portugal in Guangzhou opened to the public on June 26, 2018 and its area of jurisdiction covers the provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Hunan, Fujian and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which represents an area of 783 200Km2 and a population of 294 million inhabitants.
To the Portuguese community in this vast consular area, and to all those who need to use our services, I want to assure you that you will be able to count on a dedicated, rigorous and expeditious service from the Consulate General's team.
Since the first commercial exchanges in the 16th century, in the islands of the Pearl River estuary, in Guangdong Province, Portugal has maintained a close economic and commercial relationship with southern China. Guangdong is today the province with the highest GDP in the country and, together with the Great Bay of the Pearl River (GBA) project, it is a unique opportunity to boost the presence of the Portuguese businesses in the region. In this area, but also in others of the bilateral relationship, the Consulate General team, alongside the AICEP delegation in Guangzhou, will seek to contribute, in close articulation with our Embassy in Beijing and with the Consulates General of Macau and Shanghai, to the strengthening of centuries-old relations between Portugal and the People's Republic of China.
I invite you all to navigate our Consulate's webpage and also consult its' informative contents, as well as our pages on social networks, also thanking any suggestions that help us to improve our services, through our e-mail: cantao@mne.pt
